2009-Mar-4 - U.S. Plane Crash On Hudson River
A US Airways jet plunged into the Hudson River after its engine malfunction. The 57 year old Pilot Chesley Sullenberger lll, a former Air Force fighter pilot and a 29 year veteran of US Airways told air traffic controllers that the plane’s engine hit by a flock of geese that result to its malfunction. This appeared to be the first time in 45 years that a major aircraft crash landed in the water and every passenger made it out alive.
About 150 passengers including crew members were aboard AirBus A320 flying from New York to North Carolina. They were offshore in Manhattan New York wrapped in blanket to lessen the cold. It is believed that according to some passengers that the plane crash about three minutes after the take off. And the pilot may have been trying to make an emergency landing at New Jersey airport.
One of the passengers stated he heard two or three minutes after the take off. When he looked out of the window he saw that one of the engines is on fire. After seeing them in fire, seconds later the captain was declaring “brace for impact we are going down”. Then everything happened so fast that the passenger knew that the plane was floating on waters.
All of a sudden, the captain came on and said, 'Brace for impact,' and that's when we knew we were going down, into the water. And we just hit and somehow the plane, stayed afloat and it is just incredible right now that everybody's still alive.
Most men on the plane made sure that women and children are the first to go out after the impact on the water.
The plane was submerged in the icy waters up to the windows. Several boats surrounded the plane, which appeared to be slowly sinking. The pilot also walked to the plane twice after everyone else was off to make sure nobody is left behind on the plane as it slowly sinks into the river. Many are thanking him and even calling him a hero for doing such a wonderful job of landing the plane in the river and making everyone got out safely.
In this time of a possible tragedy saving lives will always be the first priority. There will no rich and poor when human lives are in stake. And yes prayer works and miracle do happen when we least expect it.
